MQM concerned over reports of police action against PAT

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) voiced concerns over the electronic media reports that Punjab police are constituting raid parties for the large-scale arrests of activists and leaders of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) including Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri.

In a telephonic conversation with the PAT senior leader Dr. Raheeq Abbasi, Senior Deputy Convener of the MQM’s Coordination Committee Nadeem Nusrat said this potential move by the Punjab government would be nothing but political vengeance, adding the police crackdown stands in violation of human rights.

Nadeem Nusrat shared with the PAT leader the disquiet of the MQM chief Altaf Hussain over the reports of arrests of the PAT’s leaders and workers.

Requesting the MQM leader for his good wishes, the PAT’s Raheeq Abbasi asserted, “The PAT’s workers even mothers, sisters and elderly people are quite spirited and filled with great passion. We can never be dogged with the sort of mean measures.”

Abbasi remarked that a strategy regarding every coming day including Yaum-e-Shuhada scheduled for August 10, is being figured out, which will soon be produced before the people
